アメリカの中南部、テキサス州とオクラホマ州に分布しています。切り通しやカリーチ層の土手などに生え、高さは１５〜３０センチになります。枝はよく分枝して直立し、丸い草姿となります。葉は卵形で、細毛に被われます。３月から６月ごろ、葉腋に紫青色の花を咲かせます。

シソ科タツナミソウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Scutellaria wrightii。英名は Bushy skullcap。

The Bushy skullcap (Scutellaria wrightii) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the central-south United States, Texas and Oklahoma. This herb grows in road-cuts or caliche banks and can reach 15-30 cm in height. It has numerous erect branches and forms rounded shape. The leaves are ovate and covered with minute hairs. The violet-blue flowers come in the axiles from March to June.
