北アメリカが原産です。わが国では明治時代に観賞用として導入され、第二次大戦後に全国に帰化が広がりました。川岸や荒れ地などに群生して生え、高さは２メートルほどになります。葉は披針形で先端が尖り、短い毛があってざらつきます。１０月から１１月ごろ、茎頂に大きな円錐花序をだし、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。 |

キク科アキノキリンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Solidago altissima。英名は Tall goldenrod。 |

The Tall goldenrod (Solidago altissima) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to North America. This herb was introduced into Japan as an ornamental plant in the days of Meiji Era (1868-1912), and it is naturalized widely after the Second World War. This herb grows gregariously in stream banks and barrens and can reach about 2 m in height. The leaves are lanceolate with acute tips, and euralia-like textured by short hairs. The large panicles are born on the stem apices, and the bright yellow flowers bloom from October to November. |
