北アメリカが原産です。わが国では明治時代に観賞用として導入され、第二次大戦後に全国に帰化が広がりました。川岸や荒れ地などに群生して生え、高さは２メートルほどになります。葉は披針形で先端が尖り、短い毛があってざらつきます。１０月から１１月ごろ、茎頂に大きな円錐花序をだし、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。 |

キク科アキノキリンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Solidago altissima。英名は Tall goldenrod。 |

The tall goldenrod (Solidago altissima) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to North America. This herb was introduced into Japan as an ornamental plant in the days of Meiji Era (about 120 year ago), and it is naturalized widely after the Second World War. This herb grows gregariously in stream banks and barrens and can reach about 2 m in height. The leaves are lanceolate with acute tips, and euralia-like textured by short hairs. The large panicles are born on the stem apices, and the bright yellow flowers bloom from October to November. |
