The Pink earth lichen (Dibaeis baeomyces) belongs to the family Icmadophilaceae. This lichen is widely distributed from Hokkaido to Honshu, Shikoku in Japan, and throughout the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It grows in open areas from the subalpine to alpine zones, attached to substrates such as sand, clay, and peat. It is an episubstratal species. The thallus is crustose, whitish in color, and somewhat warty on the surface. The ascocarps are nearly spherical with a faint pinkish tinge, and the stalks are 3-5 mm long.
