The bugle (Ajuga reptans) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from temperate areas of Asia to Europe. This herb grows in fields and forests, lowland to sus-alpine and can reach 15-20 cm in height. It spreads by stolons and the leaves are elliptic with wavy toothed edges. The spikes are borne on the stem apices and the blue labiate flowers bloom in April to May. Many cultivars are breeded and varied flower colors such as pink or white.
