ブラジルが原産です。高さ１０センチ、幅１５センチほどの球形になります。冬の終わりに、２センチほどの濃いオレンジから朱色の花を咲かせます。種小名は、医者でありサボテン収集家のハーゼルベルク博士（F. von Haselberg）に因みます。黄花の「きせっこう（黄雪晃、Notocactus haselbergii var. stellatus）」もあります。

サボテン科ノトカクツス属の球形サボテンで、学名は Notocactus haselbergii (syn. Brasilicactus haselbergii, Parodia haselbergii)。英名は Scarlet ball cactus。

The Scarlet ball cactus (Notocactus haselbergii) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a ball cuctus that is native to Brazil. It will be a sphere with a height of 10 cm and a width of 15 cm. At the end of winter, the dark orange to vermilion flowers of about 2 cm bloom. The specific epithet haselbergii honors the medical doctor and cactus collector Dr. F. von Haselberg.
