アメリカ・フロリダ州にあるアメリカ農務省の試験場で、１９１０年代に育成されました。ダンカングレープフルーツとダンシータンゼリンとの種間交雑種です。果実は鮮やかなオレンジ色で、特徴のある芳香と滑らかで光沢のある果皮が特徴です。３月下旬から４月上旬に収穫されますが、酸味が強いために、１か月ほど追熟させてから出荷されます。名前は、フロリダにあるセミノール湖に由来します。

The Seminole tangelo (Citrus x tangelo cv. Seminole) belongs to Rutaceae (Citrus family). It is an evergreen small tree that was cross breeded by USDA agricultural experimental station in 1910s. It is a interspecific hybrid between Duncan grapefruit and Dancy tangerine. The fruits are bright orange and charasteristic aromatic with smooth glossy seed-vessels. They are harvested from late March to early April. The fruits have strong acid tastes and need to force-riped for one month. The name 'Seminole' is derives from the Lake Seminole in Florida.
