メキシコが原産です。熱帯性の蔓性木本で、鏃形の葉には鋸歯があります。放置すると野放図に広がります。夏に「デージー」に似た花を咲かせます。花は鮮やかなオレンジ色ですが、時間がたつとほとんど真っ赤に変わります。咲くやこの花館では「きばなつるぎく（黄花蔓菊）」、「メキシコさわぎく（メキシコ沢菊）」と種名表示されていました。

キク科キオン属の常緑蔓性多年草で、学名は Senecio confusus。英名は Mexican flame vine。

The Mexican flame vine (Senecio confusus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an evergreen vine that is native to Mexico. It is also tropical woody vine with arrow-shaped, serrated leaves. If leave the plant uncared for, it will be sprawling. The daisy-like flowers bloom in summer. The flower is bright orange at first and turns bright red with age.
