せいようおとぎり (西洋弟切) [Index] [Back] ヨーロッパが原産です。南北アメリカにも導入され、各地で帰化しています。高さは２０〜８０センチになります。葉は楕円形で十字対生し、はっきりした半透明の斑点（油点）があります。６月から８月ごろ、黄色の５弁花を咲かせます。ハーブティーや打ち身や切り傷の民間薬として利用されます。英名は、６月２４日のセントジョンズデー（聖ヨハネの日）に開花したり収穫することに由来します。 オトギリソウ科オトギリソウ属の多年草で、学名は Hypericum perforatum var. perforatum。英名は St. John's wort、Tipton's weed、Klamath weed。 The St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum var. perforatum) belongs to the family Clusiaceae. It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe, which has been introduced into the Americas and naturalized in so many places. This herb can reach 20-80 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic and decussate with obvious translucent dots-oil glands. The yellow, five-petaled flowers come in June to August. This herb are used as a herbal tea, traditional medecines for bruise or incisure. The common name is derived from the flowering and harvesting on St. John's day, 24 June.
