セリ科セリ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Oenanthe javanica。英名は Water dropwort。
The Water dropwort (Oenanthe javanica) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, China and Southeast Asia, Oceania. This herb grows in marshes and can reach 20-40 cm in height. It has slender roots and spreads by runners. The leaves are pinnately to bipinnately compound and has sweet fragrance. The small white flowers come in the terminal compound umbels from July to August. One of the seven spring herbs, the young greens are edible. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "水芹菜" and in Chinese "水芹" (shui qin).
