わが国の各地をはじめ、台湾や朝鮮半島、中国、それに広く東南アジアやオセアニアに広く分布しています。低湿地に生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。根は細く、ランナーを出して広がります。葉は１〜２回奇数羽状複葉で、軟らかくてよい香りがあります。７月から８月ごろ、茎頂に複散形花序をだし、小さな白い花を咲かせます。春の七草のひとつで、若菜は食用にされます。台湾華語では「水芹菜」、中国語では「水芹（shui qin）」と呼ばれます。 |

The Water dropwort (Oenanthe javanica) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, China and Southeast Asia, Oceania. This herb grows in marshes and can reach 20-40 cm in height. It has slender roots and spreads by runners. The leaves are pinnately to bipinnately compound and has sweet fragrance. The small white flowers come in the terminal compound umbels from July to August. One of the seven spring herbs, the young greens are edible. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "水芹菜" and in Chinese "水芹" (shui qin). |
