"Shakotan-chiku" (Sasa palmata ssp. nebulosa) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is an evergreen bamboo that is a subspecies of "Broadleaf bamboo" that is distributed in various parts of Japan, and seems to be native to Hokkaido. The rod is 1 cm in diameter and 2 m in height, and is characterized by brown spots. Since the rod is thick, it was once used for the smoke tube "Lao" and the shaft of the brush. There is also a habitat in the Kashida district in the northern part of Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture.
