The Riverstream orchid (Cymbidium goeringii) belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Japan, Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula and southwestern China. This herb grows in sunny brushes or mountain ridges and can reach 10-25 cm in height. The leaves are linear, hard and clumpling. The scented pale yellowish-green flowers come on the stalks from March to April. The buds are eaten raw, tempura, or as a vinegared dish, and have long been used as orchid tea for celebratory occasions. It is called "台灣春蘭" in Taiwanese Chinese and "春蘭"(chun lan) in Chinese.
