しらねあおい (白根葵)

わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道に分布しています。多雪地の山地から亜高山帯に生え、高さは６０センチほどになります。大きな葉は互生し、掌状に７〜１１裂します。５月から７月ごろ、淡い紅紫色ときに白色の花を咲かせます。ただし、これは花弁ではなく萼片です。和名は、栃木・群馬の県境にそびえ立つ日光白根山に因みます。 |

シラネアオイ科シラネアオイ属の多年草で、学名は Glaucidium palmatum。英名はありません。 |

"Shirane-aoi" (Glaucidium palmatum) belongs to the family Glaucidiaceae. It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido in Japan. This herb grows in mountain to sub-alpine zone of heavy-snow region, and can reach about 50 cm in height. The large leaves are alternate and palmately lobed with 7-11 lobes. The pale rose purple, occasionally white flowers bloom from May to July. They are petaloid sepals. Its Japanese name is derived from Mt. Nikko Shirane, which rises above the border between Tochigi and Gunma prefectures. |
