わが国の南西諸島から台湾に分布しています。海岸の岩場や草地に生え、高さは３０〜５０センチになります。茎や葉柄は、濃い紅紫色です。葉は広卵形で対生し、鋭頭で粗い鋸歯があります。１月から７月ごろ、茎頂に散房花序をだし、ピンク色を帯びた白色の頭花を咲かせます。花にはクマリンの香りがあります。

キク科ヒヨドリバナ属の多年草で、学名は Eupatorium luchuense。英名はありません。

"Shima-fujibakama" (Eupatorium luchuense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to the Ryukyu Islands in Japan, as well as Taiwan. This herb grows in coastal rocky places and grasslands, and can reach 30-60 cm in height. The stems and petioles are dark magenta. The leaves are broad ovate and arranged in opposite with acute tips and coarse toothed edges. The corymbs are borne at the stem tips and the pink tinged white flower-heads bloom from January to July. The flowers have a flavor of coumarin odor.
