しいのきかずら (椎の木葛) [Index] [Back] わが国の南西諸島から台湾、中国南部、熱帯アジアそれにポリネシアに分布しています。マングローブの林縁や海岸近くの二次林などに生え、他の樹木などに絡みついて、長さは１０〜１５メートルになります。葉は奇数羽状複葉で、卵状長楕円形の小葉が３〜９個つきます。革質でやや光沢があります。６月から８月ごろ、葉腋に総状花序をだし、白色の唇形花を咲かせます。果実は広楕円形の豆果です。 マメ科ドクフジ属の常緑蔓性木本で、学名は Derris trifoliata。英名はありません。 "Siinoki-kazura" (Derris trifoliata) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an evergreen woody vine that is distributed to the Ryukyu Islands in Japan, as well as Taiwan, southern China, the tropical Asia and the Polynesia. This vine grows in mangrove edges and coastal secondary forests, entwines itself around adjascent trees, and can reach 10-15 m long. The leaves are impari-pinnate compound with 3-9 ovate-oblong leaflets. They are leathery and glossyish. The racemes are borne at the axils and white labiate flowers bloom from June to August.
