わが国の各地に分布しています。「いわかがみ」の白花品種です。高山帯の岩礫地や雪田などに生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。葉は２〜５センチほどの円形または卵形で、鋸歯はほとんど目立ちません。６月から８月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして白色の花を１〜５個下向きに咲かせます。別名で「しろばなこいわかがみ（白花小岩鏡）」とも呼ばれます。

イワウメ科イワカガミ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Schizocodon soldanelloides f. leucanthus (syn. Schizocodon soldanelloides var. soldanelloides f. leucanthus)。英名はありません。

"Shirobana-iwa-kagami" (Schizocodon soldanelloides f. leucanthus) belongs to the family Diapensiaceae. It is an evergreen herb that is distributed throughout Japan. It is a white-flowered variety of "Iwa-kagami". It grows in rocky gravels and snowy paddy fields in alpine zones and is 5 to 10 cm tall. The leaves are round or ovate, 2 to 5 cm in diameter, and the serrations are hardly noticeable. From June to August, the flower stalk grows and produces 1 to 5 downward-facing white flowers. It is also called "Shirobana-koiwa-kagami".
