「まめざくら（Prunus incisa）」と「えどひがん（Prunus pendula f. ascendens」との種間交雑種です。江戸時代から栽培されています。晩秋から咲き始め、冬のあいだも少しづつ咲き、４月上旬には多く咲きます。花は白色から淡いピンク色で、小さな一重咲きです。

バラ科サクラ属の落葉小高木で、学名は Prunus x subhirtella cv. Semperflorens。英名はありません。

"Shiki-zakura" (Prunus x subhirtella cv. Semperflorens) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a semi-tall deciduous tree that is an interspecific hybrid between "Fuji cherry" (Prunus incisa) and "Edohigan" (Prunus pendula f. Ascendens). It begins to bloom in late fall, blooms little by little during winter, and blooms a lot in early April. The flowers are white to pale pink and are small single flowers.
