わが国の各地をはじめ、北半球の温帯地域に広く分布している「くさふじ（草藤）」の白花品種です。日当たりのよい山地に生え、５月から９月ごろ、上向きの総状花序にて白い花を咲かせます。

マメ科ソラマメ属の蔓性多年草で、学名は Vicia cracca。英名は White flower tufted vetch。

The white flower tufted vetch (Vicia cracca) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is a white flower variety of "Tufted vetch" that is widely distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, including various parts of Japan. This herb grows in sunny mountains and blooms white flowers with upward racemes from May to September.
