「コモンタイム（Thymus vulgaris）」と「ブロードリーフタイム（Thymus pulegioides）」との種間交雑種が「レモンタイム（Thymus x citriodorus）」ですが、その一園芸品種です。高さは１５〜３０センチになり、葉は緑色で縁には銀灰色の縁取りが入ります。７月から８月ごろ、葉腋に小さなピンク色の唇形花を咲かせます。全体にレモンの芳香があり、スープやシチューなどの料理用のほか、ハーブティーにも利用されます。

シソ科イブキジャコウソウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Thymus x citriodorus cv. Argenteus。英名は Silver thyme。

The Silver thyme (Thymus x citriodorus cv. Argenteus) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is a cultivar of Lemon thyme. This herb can reach 15-30 cm in height. The leaves are green with silvery-gray outlining. The small pink labiate flowers appear on the axils from July to August. The plant is a lemon-like scented and used for soup, stew or herbal tea.
