It grows in dry valleys, hillsides, and shrublands, and grows 5 to 6 m tall. The trunk is short, and the bark is dark brown and grooved. The leaves are elliptic to circular with slightly serrated edges, and the yellow-green flowers bloom from March to May. The fruit is a flattened samara.
