わが国の本州、長野・山梨県に分布しています。「かんとうたんぽぽ（関東蒲公英）」の亜種に位置づけられています。３月から５月ごろ、黄色い頭花を咲かせますが、総苞片全体が大きくふっくらしています。また総苞外片は卵形で幅が広く、小角突起がないのが特徴です。

キク科タンポポ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Taraxacum platycarpum ssp. hondoense。英名はありません。

"Shinano-tanpop" (Taraxacum platycarpum ssp. hondoense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures of Honshu in Japan. It is positioned as a subspecies of "Kanto-tanpopo". The yellow flower heads bloom from March to May, but the involucre are large and plump. In addition, the outer involucral segments are ovate and wide, and are characterized by the absence of cornu.
