わが国の本州、近畿地方から中国地方それに四国・九州に分布しています。谷沿いの湿地に生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。走出枝を伸ばして広がります。葉は扇形で対生し、先端には丸い鋸歯があります。４月から５月ごろ、花茎をのばして白い花を咲かせます。花弁はなく萼裂片が白色で、花後に緑色に変わります。葯は暗紅色です。

ユキノシタ科ネコノメソウ属の多年草で、学名は Chrysosplenium album。英名はありません。

"Shirobana-nekonome-so" (Chrysosplenium album) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Kinki region to Chugoku region of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. It grows in wetlands along the valley and can reach 5-10 cm in height. It stretches and spreads the running branches. The leaves are fan-shaped and opposite, with round serrations at the tips. From April to May, the flower stalks are extended and white flowers come in bloom. There are no petals and the sepals are white and turn green after flowering. The anther is dark red.
