わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。山地の草原や丘陵に生え、高さは１〜１．５メートルになります。茎はふつう暗赤色を帯びます。下部の葉は心形で縁には粗い鋸歯があり、狭い翼のある長い葉柄につきます。８月から１０月ごろ、茎の上部で分枝して白い頭花をつけます。舌状花は６〜８個しかありません。中国語では「東風菜（dong feng cai）」と呼ばれます。 |

キク科シオン属の多年草で、学名は Aster scaber。英名はありません。 |

The "Shirayama-giku" (Aster scaber) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Japan, the Korean Penninsula and China. This herb grows in montane grasslands and hillsides, and it can reach 1-1.5 m in height. The stems are usually tinged dark red. The underneath leaves are cordate with coarsely toothed edges and narrow winged, long petioles. The white flower-heads bloom at the branched stems from August to October. The flower-head consists of 6-8 ray florets. In Chinese, it is called "東風菜" (dong feng cai). |
