ししんらん (石吊蘭) [Index] [Back] わが国の西南部から南西諸島、それに東アジアに分布しています。照葉樹林の苔むした樹幹に着生し、高さは２０〜３０センチになります。茎はよく分枝し、葉を対生あるいは３輪生させます。葉は革質で長楕円状披針形、縁には鈍い鋸歯があります。夏に、茎頂の葉腋から花序をだし、淡紅色から白色の筒状花を、１〜２個咲かせます。  イワタバコ科シシンラン属の常緑小低木で、学名は Lysionotus pauciflorus。英名はありません。  "Shishin-ran" (Lysionotus pauciflorus) belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to southwest Japan, the Ryukyu Islands, and East Asia. This shrub is an epiphyte on mossy trunks of trees in laurel forests, and it can reach 20-30 cm in height. It is much-branched and produces leaves in opposite or 3 whorled. The leaves are leathery and oblong-lanceolate, with blunt tooth edges.
