The Pubescent angelica (Angelica pubescens) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and distributed to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. This herb grows in mountains and can reach 1-2 m in height. The leaves are bipinnately or tripinnately compound with serrated oblong leaflets. The many white flowers bloom in large compound umbels from August to November. The dried rootstocks are used as a herbal medicine for cold or edema.
