The Snail flower (Sigmoidotropis speciosa) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Mexico to southern tropical America. It is a vine that grows primarily in humid tropical biomes, reaching lengths of about 5 m. The leaves are trifoliate, with membranous, ovate leaflets. The underside bears dense, pale soft hairs. It flowers year-round and will continue blooming as long as temperatures are suitable. The flowers are pink to purple papillionaceous flowers. The genus name derives from the keel petal resembling the Greek letter word-final sigma (ς).
