わが国の本州から四国、九州に分布しています。深山の林縁などに生え、高さは５０〜１００センチになります。茎は上部で分枝し、卵形または広被針形の葉が互生します。葉には深い鋸歯があり、長い柄があります。８月から９月ごろ、茎頂のまばらな円錐花序に淡い青紫色の花を咲かせます。花柱は花冠よりやや突き出すくらいです。

キキョウ科ツリガネニンジン属の多年草で、学名は Adenophora remotiflora。英名はありません。

The "Soba-na" (Adenophora remotiflora) belongs to Campanulaceae (the Bellflower family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows on forest edges in deep mountains and can reach 50-100 cm in height. The upper part of the stem is branched. The leaves are ovate to broad lanceolate and alternate with deep-toothed edges and petioles. The panicles are borne on the stem apices and produce sparse, pale bluish-purple flowers from August to September. The style protrudes slightly from the corolla. (edit by Greg Brockelbank)
