中央アメリカのメキシコからグアテマラに分布しています。高さが２メートルにもなる大型の地生ランで、細い茎が叢生します。葉は「たけ（竹）」のような披針形で互生します。夏、花茎を伸ばして「カトレア」に似た黄色い花を咲かせます。花は短命で数日しかもちません。

ラン科ソブラリア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Sobralia xantholeuca。英名はありません。

The Sobralia xantholeuca belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from Mexico in Central America to Guatemala. It is a large terrestrial orchid with a height of 2 m, with thin stems crowding. The leaves alternate in a lanceolate shape like "bamboo". In summer, the flower stalks are borne to bloom yellow flowers similar to "cattleya". Flowers are short-lived and last only a few days.
