アメリカ東部の固有種で、ノースカロライナ州にあるヤドキン川の辺でだけ見ることができます。この種は１００年の間、絶滅したものと考えられていましたが、フィールドワークをしていた植物学者によって、１９９４年に再発見されました。現在では、小さな自然群落が２つだけ確認されています。絶滅危惧植物種です。川岸に生え、高さは４０〜１００センチになります。葉は線形から楕円状倒披針形で、縁には鋸歯があります。８月から９月ごろ、円錐状の花序に、黄色い頭花を咲かせます。

キク科アキノキリンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Solidago plumosa。英名は Plumed goldenrod、Yadkin River goldenrod。

The Plumed goldenrod (Solidago plumosa) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to the eastern United States, and can be found only along the Yadkin River of North Carolina. It was considered extinct for 100 years, and it was rediscovered in 1994 by botanists doing field work. Today only two small natural population exist. It is an endangered plant species. This herb grows in stream banks and can reach 40-100 cm in height. The leaves are linear to elliptic-oblanceolate with serrate margins. The yellow flower-heads bloom in paniculiform arrays from August to September.
