アメリカ北東部に分布する「ハイブッシュブルーベリー（Vaccinium corymbosum）」と、南東部に分布する野生種との交雑種です。ハイブッシュ系に近い食味があり、暖地でも生育する品種群で、おもにフロリダ大学で改良が進められました。高さは１〜１．５メートルになります。写真の品種は、「フロリダブルー（cv. Florida Blue）」。

ツツジ科スノキ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Vaccinium cv.。英名は Southern highbush blueberry。

The Southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium cv.) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a deciduous shrub that is a hybrid of "Vaccinium corymbosum" distributed in the northeastern part of the United States and a wild species distributed in the southeastern part. It is a cultivar group that has a taste close to that of the highbush variety and grows even in warm regions, and has been improved mainly at the University of Florida. The height will be 1 to 1.5 m. The variety in the photo is "cv. Florida Blue".
