南アフリカ、ケープ地方の南西部が原産です。冬降雨地帯の平地に生え、高さは１０〜２５センチになります。早春に、濃褐色い中心部がある白色やクリーム色、ピンク色、黄色などの花を咲かせます。花は日中に咲き、夕方には凋みます。地上部は夏になると枯死して、休眠します。

ユリ科スピロキシネ属の多年草で、学名は Spiloxene capensis。英名はありません。

The Spiloxene capensis belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the southwestern Cape Province of South Africa. This herb grows in the flats of winter rainfall area and can reach 10-25 cm in height. The flowers are white, cream, yellow or pink with dark brown center and come in early spring. They are open in the daylight and close in the evening. The terrestrial is blighted and diapause in summer.
