The Seashore dropseed (Sporobolus virginicus) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a perennial herb that is native to tropical Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Australia and the United States. This grass is spreading tussock grass, grows along coasts, and it can reach 15-45 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate with spine-tipped. The glossy grayish or yellowish brown spikelets appear year round.
