ヨーロッパ中部から南部に分布しています。標高６００〜２０００メートルにある石灰岩地の林内湿地や明るい潅木帯に生え、高さは４０〜８０センチになります。全体に柔らかな毛に被われています。葉は卵形で鋸歯があります。６月から８月ごろ、輪生状の花序をだし、ピンク色がかった赤色の花を咲かせます。花冠には黄色い目のような斑紋があります。

The Limestone woundwort (Stachys alpina) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to central and southern Europe. This herb grows in calcareous woodland glades or open scrugs 600-2000m elevation and can reach 40-80 cm in height. The plant is covered with soft hairs. The leaves are ovate with serrated edges. The whorled clusters are born and bloom pinky-red flowers that have a yellow eye from June to August.
