アメリカのテキサス州南部に分布しています。海岸砂丘などに生え、高さは１０センチほどになり、マット状に広がります。葉は銀灰色の毛に被われ、「ラムズイヤー」に似ています。春先から霜が降りる頃まで、小さな紫色の花を咲かせます。高温多湿にも耐性があり、グランドカバーとして利用されます。

ゴマノハグサ科ステモディア属の多年草で、学名は Stemodia lanata（syn. Stemodia tomentosa）。英名は Gray-woolly twintip、Woolly stemodia。

The Gray-woolly twintip (Stemodia lanata) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the southern part of Texas in the United States. It grows on coastal dunes, reaches a height of about 10 cm, and spreads like a mat. The leaves are covered with silver-gray hair and resemble "Lamb's-ear". The small purple flowers come in early spring until the frost. It is resistant to high temperature and humidity and is used as a ground cover.
