ヨーロッパからコーカサス地方に分布しています。湿り気のある林縁や河岸などに生え、高さは３０〜７０センチになります。茎は直立し、毛に被われています。葉は卵形から長卵形で対生します。５月から７月ごろ、深裂した５個の白い花弁をもつ小さな花を咲かせます。

The Wood stitchwort (Stellaria nemorum) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Europe to the Caucasus. This herb grows in wet wood edges or stream edges and can reach 30-70 cm in height. The stem is erect and hairly. The leaves are ovate to long-ovate and opposite. The small flowers consisting of a corolla with 5 deeply divided white petals come in May to July.
