インドのアッサム地方が原産です。高さは１メートルくらいになり、葉や茎は光沢のある紫がかった黒色をしています。冬から初夏にかけて、うす紫色の筒状花をたくさん咲かせます。自生地の開花期は、２月から３月ごろとか。園芸上は「ランプの妖精」という名前で呼ばれています。

キツネノマゴ科イセハナビ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Strobilanthes anisophyllus。英名は Goldfussia。

The Goldfussia (Strobilanthes anisophyllus) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the Assam region of India. The height is about 1 m, and the leaves and stems have a glossy purplish black color. From winter to early summer, many pale purple tubular flowers come in bloom. The flowering period of the native habitat is from February to March. In horticulture, it is called "Lamp Fairy".
