中国の南部からベトナム北部が原産です。高さは１．８メートルほどになり、葉は被針形で革質です。この葉は秋にしばしば赤く色づきます。６月ごろ、白い花を咲かせ、秋から冬にかけて果実が赤く熟します。中国語では「紅果樹（hong guo shu）」と呼ばれます。

バラ科ストランウェシア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Stranvaesia davidiana (syn. Photinia davidiana)。英名は Chinese stranvaesia。

The Chinese stranvaesia (Stranvaesia davidiana) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native from southern China to northern Vietnam. This shrub can reach about 1.8 m in height, the leaves are lanceolate and leathery, often turn into red in fall. White flowers come in June and the fruits ripen red in fall to winter. It is called "紅果樹" (hong guo shu) in Chinese.
