南アフリカの東部、クワズールーナタール州に分布しています。温帯林の林内に生え、高さは４５センチほどになります。葉は生涯を通じて一個しかなく、大きな長楕円形で長さは１００センチ、幅６０センチ以上になります。夏、長い花茎を伸ばして集散花序をつけ、淡青色の花を咲かせます。

イワタバコ科ストレプトカーパス属の多年草で、学名は Streptocarpus grandis。英名はありません。

The Streptocarpus grandis belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is a perennial herbacious plant that is endemic to KwaZlu-Natal province, east of South Africa. This plant grows in warm forests and can reach about 45 cm in height. Leaf is single during its lifetime, huge oblong up to 100 cm long and up to 60 cm wide. In summer, pale blue flowers are seen in cymes on the long flower stalks.
