スイカズラ科スイカズラ属の半落葉蔓性木本で、学名は Lonicera japonica。英名は Japanese honeysuckle。
The Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a semi-deciduous woody vine that is distributed all over Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This vine grows in mountains, fields and roadsides. The leaves are elliptic to oblong and opposite. A pair of flowers come in axils from May to June. The flowers are white at beginning and turn yellow gradually. The twin fruits ripen black. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "忍冬" and "忍冬" (ren dong) in Chinese.
