わが国の各地をはじめ、台湾や朝鮮半島、中国に分布しています。山野や道端にふつうに生えています。楕円形から長楕円形の葉は対生し、５月から６月ごろ、枝先の葉腋に２個ずつ花を咲かせます。初めは色で、やがて黄色に変わります。果実も２個が並んでつき、黒く熟します。別名で、「きんぎんか（金銀花）」とも呼ばれます。台湾華語では「忍冬」、中国語では「忍冬（ren dong）」と呼ばれます。 |

スイカズラ科スイカズラ属の半落葉蔓性木本で、学名は Lonicera japonica。英名は Japanese honeysuckle。 |

The Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a semi-deciduous woody vine that is distributed all over Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This vine grows in mountains, fields and roadsides. The leaves are elliptic to oblong and opposite. A pair of flowers come in axils from May to June. The flowers are white at beginning and turn yellow gradually. The twin fruits ripen black. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "忍冬" and "忍冬" (ren dong) in Chinese. |
