The Super torenia (Torenia hybrid) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is an annual or a perennial herb that is a hybrid between "Bluewings" (Torenia fournieri), an annual herb native to the Indochina Peninsula, and "Tsuru-uri-kusa" (Torenia concolor), a perennial herb native to the Nansei Islands in Japan and Taiwan. These include the "Catarina" and "Lumina" series created by Haxan Corporation. It is heat tolerant and also relatively cold hardy, blooming from April to November. It grows to a height of 20 to 30 cm, and the plant can spread up to 80 cm in diameter. However, it is sterile and does not produce seeds. The photo shows a hybrid 'Blue River' from the "Catarina" series.
