The Sutera microphylla belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to South Africa. This herb can reach 15-30 cm in height, and the stem decumbent or suberect, closely branched. The leaves are ovate-oblong, thick, entire and glabrous. The several mauve flowers bloom near the top of the branchlets. The diameter of the flower is 8-12 mm. The fruits are ovate capsules, somewhat glandular-squamulose, and 4-5 mm long.
