南アフリカが原産です。よく分枝して、高さは２５センチほどになります。夕方から咲き始め、夜に芳香を放ちます。真っ白な５弁花で、裏面は赤紫色です。ひとつの花弁はハート形をしています。写真は、園芸品種の「ムーンライトフラグランス（cv. Moonlight Fragrance）」。

The Night phlox (Zaluzianskya ovata) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to South Africa. It branches well and is about 25 cm high. It begins to bloom in the evening and gives off a fragrance at night. The flowers are pure white five-petaled, and the back side is purplish red. The each petal is heart-shaped. The photo is the garden variety 'Moonlight Fragrance'.
