メキシコ原産の「ひゃくにちそう（Zinnia elegans）」と「ほそばひゃくにちそう（Zinnia angustifolia）」との種間交雑種です。「サカタのタネ」において、胚珠培養によって育種され、１９９９年から流通しています。耐候性と耐病性を併せ持ち、現在、花色のシリーズは７色あります。写真は上が「チェリー」、中１が「オレンジ」、中２・中３が「ホワイト」です。

キク科ヒャクニチソウ属の一年草で、学名は Zinnia cv. Profusion。英名は Zinnia 'Profusion'。

The Zinnia 'Profusion' belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an interspecific hybrid between "Common zinia" (Zinnia elegans) and "Narrow-leaf zinnia" (Zinnia angustifolia) that are native to Maxico. This hybrid was breeded in manner of embryo culture by Sakata Seed Corporation, and has been come on to market from 1999. It has weather and disease tolerance, and seven flower-colors in the series.
