Petty spurge (Euphorbia peplus) belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is an annual herb that is native to most of Europe, northern Africa and western Asia. This herb grows in cultivated arable land, gardens and other disturbed land, and can reach 5-30 cm in height. The leaves are pear-shaped to triangular or rhombic with acute tips and smooth margin. The flowers are green in small cyathias, and bloom most of the year. The stem when broken or when a leaf is removed exudes a white sticky sap.
