エクアドルからペルー、チリに分布しています。標高１６００〜２２００メートルの高原に生え、高さは４〜８メートルになります。葉は卵状披針形で、表面に綿毛があります。雌雄異株で、葉腋に蝋細工のような花を咲かせます。果実は集合果です。果肉は白いクリーム状で甘く、わずかな酸味と芳香があり、「森のアイスクリーム」と呼ばれることもあります。

The Cherimoya (Annona cherimolia) belongs to Annonaceae (the Custard apple family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed from Ecuador to Peru and Chile. It grows on a plateau at an altitude of 1600 to 2200 m and is 4 to 8 m high. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate with fluff on the surface. It is dioecious and has waxy flowers on the axils. The fruits are aggregate. The flesh is white creamy and sweet, with a slight acidity and aroma, sometimes referred to as "forest ice cream".
