メキシコ南部のテワカン谷（Tehuacan Valley）に分布しています。乾燥地帯に生え、丸く肥大した基部から、数多くの細い幹を伸ばします。基部は長方形から多角形に裂けた、灰色から褐色の厚い樹皮に被われています。ノリナ属（Nolina）に分類されることもあります。

リュウゼツラン科トックリラン属の常緑低木で、学名は Beaucarnea gracilis（syn. Nolina gracilis）。英名は Coke bottle palm。

The Coke bottle palm (Beaucarnea gracilis) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a small evergreen tree that is found in the Tehuacan Valley in southern Mexico. It grows in arid areas, with numerous slender trunks growing out of a rounded, thickened base. The base is covered with thick gray to brown bark with rectangular to polygonal lobes. It is sometimes classified in the genus Nolina.
