The Southern marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza praetermissa) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is native to northern and central Europe. This herb grows in wet dune slacks, neutral fens, damp meadows, and up to a height of 30-50 cm. The leaves are broad linear, alternate, and generally unmarked. The flowers bloom in the raceme from late May until the end of July. They are dark pink to a much paler pink, and have the markings on the lips.
