The Gregg's prairie clover (Dalea gregii) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to western Texas, southern New Mexico and Mexico. This herb grows in arid slopes and rocky areas, and up to a height of 15-30 cm. The stems are long, trailing, and root at the nodes. The leaves are silvery, blue-green pinnately compound with 5-11 leaflets. The tiny pea-shaped purple flowers bloom on short spikes in spring and early summer.
