The purple dalea (Dalea lasiathera) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to southern North America, Texas and northern Mexico. This herb grows in stony plains and hillsides, mesquite savannah, and up to a height of 15-30 cm. It is many-stemmed and forms a low rosette. The leaves are pinnately compound with small ovate to elliptic leaflets. The tiny purple flowers that have orange to yellow anthers, bloom in spikes from April to June. The fruit is small indehiscent capsules.
