だんどぼろぎく (段戸襤褸菊)

北アメリカが原産です。今では各地の伐採跡地や道端などで見ることができます。名前は、昭和時代のはじめに愛知県の段戸山で発見されたことから。茎は高さが５０〜１００センチほどになり、上部で分枝します。葉は細長く、若葉は食用になるそうです。９月から１０月ごろ、先端が淡黄色から白色の細くすぼんだ花を咲かせます。花後は、白く長い毛が毛玉状になり風に乗って飛散します。 |

The Fire weed (Erechitites hieracifoli) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is an annual herb that is native to North America. It is also can now be seen in logging areas, roadsides, and so on. The Japanese name is derived from the fact that it was discovered in the Mount Dando in Aichi prefecture at the beginning of the Showa era (about 80 years ago). The stem is branched at the top, and has a height of about 50-100 cm. Leaves are slender, young leaves are edible. The pale yellow to white flower-heads which have thin and puckered tips bloom from September to October. Ater flowering, the seeds with long white pappus will be scattered on the wind. |
