The Sandpaper sotol (Dasylirion serratifolium) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in the southern part of Mexico, Oaxaca. The height is about 1.8 m, and the leaves are linear and bow-shaped. The surface of the leaves is fine sandpaper-like, with yellowish-white spines on the edges. As it matures, it grows long flower stalks and bears spikes.
